NEW OIPC Commissioner

December 15, 2011 Approved Orders in Council The Alberta Legislative Assembly appoints Marylin Mun as acting Information and Privacy Commissioner for a term to expire on January 31, 2012; and effective February 1, 2012, appoints Jill Clayton as Information and Privacy Commissioner for a term to expire on January 31, 2017. Jill Clayton is currently the assistant commissioner and has been working in the OIPC office for seven years. Mr. Frank Work's contract ends Dec. 5, 2011 The privacy commissioner has authority to act under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Health Information Act, and the Personal Information Protection Act. The Information and Privacy Commissioner is appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council upon recommendation by the Legislative Assembly. For more information see LAO Releases
